When Stars Go Dark

I’m wondering how many more stars have to die before someone does something about the drug problem that is running rampant in Hollywood.  In the past 10 years, we have lost some amazing talents to prescription drug abuse.  I think it’s safe to say that there is a problem.

Daniel Smith (Son of Anna Nicole Smith) – September 10, 2006 – Cardiac dysrhythmia caused by combination of methadone, Lexapro and Zolof.

Anna Nicole Smith – February 8, 2007 – Age 39 – Lethal combination of chloral hydrate and various benzodiazepines.

Casey Calvert (Hawthorne Heights) – November 24, 2007 – Age 26 – A rare lethal mixture of hydrocodone/APAP, citalopram, and clonazepam.

Heath Ledger –  January 22, 2008 – Age 28  –  acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine

Michael Jackson – June 25, 2009 – Age 50propofol, lorazepam and midazolam

Britney Murphy – December 20, 2009 – Age 32 – primary cause of Murphy’s death was pneumonia, with secondary factors of iron-deficiency anemia and multiple drug intoxication. These included “elevated levels” of hydrocodone, acetaminophen, L-methamphetamine and chlorpheniramine.

The Rev (Avenged Sevenfold) – December 28, 2009 – Age 28 – [A]cute polydrug intoxication due to combined effects of oxycodone, oxymorphone, diazepam, nordiazepam and ethanol.

Paul Gray(Slipknot) – May 24, 2012 – Age 38 – accidental overdose of morphine and fentanyl.

Amy Winehouse – July 23, 2011 – Age 27 – Alcohol poisoning.

Jani Lane (Warrent) – August 11, 2011 – Age 47 – Alcohol poisoning.

Mikey Welsh(Weezer) – October 8, 2011 – Age 40 – suspected drug overdose leading to a heart attack.

Whitney Houston – February 11, 2012 – Age 48 – known to have drug addiction problems and found in her hotel suite, submerged in her bathtub.
