Movie Time!

For those of you that don’t know me very well, I am a movie addict. Most people sit around on week nights and watch their favorite sitcom or reality series, but not me. I’m bouncing between Starz, Netflix, and my own personal collection of movies 7 days a week. That being said, I do enjoy a couple of weekly tv shows (The Big Bang Theory and Mythbusters being high on that list ), but I hardly ever have time to watch tv these days at all. I’m usually too busy getting something done for the kids or trying to catch up on office work. So it was a pleasant surprise when I managed to find time to watch not one, but two movies this weekend!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2I have been as eager as a child in a candy store for this movie to come out on DVD. I decided to slip into Walmart tonight and pick up a copy. To my amazement, Walmart had this fantastic cardboard display setup in the shape of Hogwarts, full of the entire series, both on DVD and BlueRay. I’m still a DVD hold-out, so I was really excited to find out that I could buy most of the previous movies from the series for only $3.96 each. Wow! Some of my original DVD’s have kicked the bucket (and a couple of them disappeared completely), so I stocked up on the ones that I needed. If anyone is in the market, I recommend getting to Walmart as soon as possible!

My son and I watched the movie together. I could hardly get him to stop talking! So many questions… I was relieved that my second time watching Part 2 really helped to clarify some things. I read the entire series, but there were some details that I really had trouble grasping. It was nice to put some closure on that. Also, I’m looking forward to watching it again without my son and his commentary. LOL If you are a Harry Potter fan, go get the DVD’s! Make a weekend of it. I fully intend to sit in my pajamas and watch the entire series start to finish in the near future.

The Tourist

The TouristA surprisingly good movie! I didn’t know if I could enjoy Johnny Depp in a movie where he was so NOT Capt. Jack Sparrow. He did great however! My favorite thing about this movie was that I couldn’t anticipate it. Most movies are very easy for me to guess. I can say lines for the actors word for word the first time I’ve ever seen the movie. This was not like that at all. It moved fairly quickly and although there were some weird little moments when I didn’t feel like Angelina was still in character (she sort of zoned off somewhere), for the most part I really enjoyed it. An added bonus: Paul Bettany = One of my all time favorite hot English actors. That was the icing on the cake.

If you are looking for a fun, light action, mystery with a sweet romantic twist then this is for you.
